Crucial information. Complete protection. Secure communications. When it comes to patient privacy, there are many issues to consider, with HIPAA Compliance at the top of the list. At Answering Service care, we have both you and your patients protected at every stage of the information-exchanging process.
You’ve heard of HIPAA. One of the main aims of HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, is to protect the confidentiality and security of healthcare information. As your medical answering service, we are considered a HIPAA “business associate,” meaning that we are required by law to take these laws and regulations as seriously as you do (in other words, we must be HIPAA compliant, too). When it comes to exchanging, transmitting and storing secure patient-related information, we take our HIPAA compliance responsibilities and obligations very seriously.
That’s where our secure messaging capabilities come in. As a client of Answering Service Care, you will experience first-hand just how critically important HIPAA compliant secure messaging is to those in the medical and healthcare fields – and their patients.
We’ve been busy…making sure you and your patients are covered. Over the past few years, we have worked diligently to develop and implement a proprietary secure messaging application (“app”) that is encrypted, streamlined and friendly to both mobile and desktop devices.
So, how does healthcare secure messaging work? As strong as our commitment to full compliance is, so too is our desire to keep things efficient and simple for everyone involved. It shouldn’t be difficult to retrieve your messages or navigate through various tools and devices. Here’s how our secure – and simple – healthcare secure messaging process works:
- Your caller leaves a message and our answering service agent creates the message in our system.
- Our secure messaging system is activated in real-time.
- You will receive a notification via email or text that lets you know “You have a new secure message.” Keep in mind that this text or email will not contain any information or data from the message itself, but a notification that there is a secure message awaiting you.
- When you are ready, you can log into our secure web portal (from your mobile device, laptop or desktop computer) and view your secure and encrypted messages.
