Celebrating 40 Years in Business!

In October of 1974, Herman and Dorothy Shooster, an entrepreneurial couple that had recently moved from New Jersey to South Florida, purchased a small answering service by the name of Ding-A-Ling.

The business, owned by brothers Frank and Joe Brooks, had a nice local reputation for good customer service and attention with a smile. While the Shoosters knew that their hard work, attention to detail and commitment to be the best would grow the company, they never imagined what the future held.

Growing, growing, growing. That first year, Herman Shooster didn’t draw a paycheck, and, together with his wife Dorothy, put all that he could back into the business. Over the years, the Shoosters connected with others in the answering service business, and continued to acquire many of these small businesses, most of which were also local family-owned entities.

Staying close to its roots. That small “mom-and-pop” has grown into Answering Service Care, one of the premier providers of professional answering services (and, with its sister company Global Response, call center services) in the industry. And what’s more, the ever-growing and expanding business – which began operations in a small storefront location and now has additional locations in Michigan and Washington – has remained family-owned and operated. Today, all four of the Shoosters’ kids and several of their spouses, as well as now the third generation, including several of the Shoosters’ 14 grandchildren, manage a full-service operation that serves a global clientele and continues to flourish into the future.
